Where size does matter – eTN leads the global travel news pack

I often casually mention that eTN is the global market leader for news to the world wide travel and tourism community, and periodically I am challenged to ‘prove it’ … Normally I refer to the links on the eTN websites, where the numbers are published, but the latest Google rankings speak not just volumes but for itself – apart from ‘speciality pages’ like National Geographic, which has attained rank 8, or CNN Travel which has attained rank 7 alongside Conde Nast and the Travel Channel TV, eTN has attained Google Ranking 6 for the hourly ‘eTN Rush Edition’ and the daily ‘eTN Global News Edition’. I started to write for eTN in 2001 in the aftermath of 9/11 and have been with them ever since, rejecting overtures of other publications to shift my ATC News from Eastern and Central Africa and the Indian Ocean islands to them to boost readers’ numbers and get hold of the wealth of information I put in the public domain – all on my blog and a lot on eTN of course where I feature in the continental segment www.eturbonews.com/africa.

Here is the full release as received from Google and if any of you still need a reason to read, here it is:

eTurboNews (eTN) outperforms most major travel publications in the world

eTurboNews (eTN) has been a veteran in travel communication for almost 14 years. It was founded in 1999 with a global network in 211 countries and territories. Today, eTN reaches 230,000+ travel industry professionals worldwide and its articles are seen every day by 1.3 million+ potential visitors (consumers). At this time eTN Rush is the only travel industry option to inform about global travel industry news nearly every hour 24/7, bringing the news as it happens.

Recently, the main global eTurboNews portal (www.eturbonews.com [1]) and its European portal (www.eturbonews.eu [2]) were upgraded to a Google page rank 6, outranking most of the major known travel industry and travel consumer media outlets. In addition, the eTN TravelIndustryDeals website (www.travelindustrydeals.com [3]) was upgraded from no ranking to a page rank of 4. The eTN Photo edition which just started two month ago, already enjoys a page rank of 3, and the new eTN 2.0 Video channel is now page ranked at 4.

Google uses a page ranking system to determine how important a website is. It is based on various factors including search-ability and global connectivity and importance in comparison with other sides.. The higher the page rank number, the better the ranking.
