SWITZERLAND BY A380 – NOW POSSIBLE WITH EMIRATES
(Posted 09th January 2014)
East Africans traveling to Switzerland now finally have the chance to fly one sector of that journey with the giant Airbus A380, as Emirates, Dubai’s award winning airline launched their latest destination to be served with the world’s largest passenger aircraft. This switch represents a capacity increase of over 20 percent compared to the aircraft type used on the route so far.
Available with immediate effect can those connecting out of Entebbe, Nairobi, Dar es Salaam and Addis Ababa connect in Dubai to flight number EK087 to Zurich and sample for a few hours the splendour of Emirates’ First Class Suites, a superbly appointed business class section with a variety of features and a generously spaced economy class with the latest entertainment at passengers’ finger tips.
The launch of Zurich by A380 is now Emirates’ 25th destination worldwide to be served by this aircraft type, of which the airline is already the largest operator and has dozens of more such planes in the delivery pipeline. Only very recently did Emirates firm up the orders for an additional 50 such aircraft, after initially announcing the deal at the Dubai Air Show in November last year at the new Dubai World International airport in Jebel Ali.
Information received from Emirates suggests that since the launch of the route in 1992 nearly 3.5 million passengers travelled with them between Zurich to Dubai and beyond. Watch this space for breaking and regular aviation news from the Eastern Africa region.
