The Aviation industry in Africa creates around 6.7 million jobs and contributed $6.8 billion to Africa’s GDP. According to IATA’s Air Passenger Growth Forecast, the top 10 fastest growing markets in percentage terms will be in Africa. Each is expected to grow by 7-8% each year for the next 20 years. The question remains: what is being done to prepare for this growth? This workshop will address infrastructure development and investment opportunities with specific focus on expanding maintenance capabilities on the Continent.

Cheryle R. Jackson is President of AAR Africa, a leading provider of aircraft maintenance and supply chain solutions worldwide, with 4,500 employees in over 20 countries. She spent much of the last two years traveling between the U.S. and Africa to solidify AAR’s foothold in the continent and building on the company’s first power-by-the-hour (PBH) component inventory management and repair services contract with Kenya Airways fleet of 737NGs, aided by the U.S. Commerce Department’s Doing Business in Africa initiative.
Nigusu Worku is Ethiopian Airlines’ Regional Director for the Americas. Ethiopian Airlines is a government-owned business founded in 1946 with support from the United States Government. Since then, the airline has joined Star Alliance, expanded to 92 destinations on 5 continents and now holds a constantly expanding fleet of 76 aircrafts.
