Amadeus East Africa appoints new General Manager

Mathieu Dutrisac was earlier this week appointed as General Manager for the East Africa region which covers 13 countries: Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Djibouti, Eritrea, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Burundi, South Sudan, Somalia, Malawi, Comoros and Seychelles.

Mathieu will be based at Amadeus’ head office in Nairobi, Kenya taking over from Juan Torres as General Manager from the 1st of July. To ensure a smooth transition and succession, Juan will continue managing the region until that date, whilst Mathieu will spend some time in Amadeus IT Group head offices (in Madrid, Nice and other African Hubs) as part of his induction program in Amadeus.

Mathieu will be responsible for overseeing business strategies across all travel channels in corporate and leisure travel agents, leading Amadeus’ initiatives to grow in East Africa whilst driving technological innovation.

Mathieu is a senior Telecoms and IT Commercial leader with 8 years of experience in East and Central Africa. Prior to joining Amadeus, he was Chief Operating Officer of Airtel Congo Brazzaville; Chief Commercial Officer of Tigo in DR Congo and Head of Products & Marketing in Rwanda. Earlier in his career Mathieu worked as a developer in large IT groups Nortel, Marconi and Texas Instruments. Mathieu holds a Bachelor in Computer Engineering from Ecole de Technologie Superieure in Montreal and an MBA from IE Business School in Madrid.
