#AirMauritius takes delivery of first A350 as in Toulouse the first A330NEO takes to the skies

Air Mauritius has become the first Indian Ocean airline – and second in Africa – to take delivery of the state of the art Airbus #A350XWB.
The aircraft arrived yesterday on the island after a ferry flight from Toulouse where the handover ceremony had taken place before invited guests and key staff members boarded the aircraft for the nonstop flight home.
The new aircraft, the first of six to be delivered in coming years, is powered by one of the best engines on the market today, the Rolls Royce Trent XWB.
Among the welcoming crowd at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport was the country’s Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Kumar Jugnauth who listened attentively when the airline’s CEO Somas Appavou said: ‘We have to take advantage of new technologies to enhance our service standards, improve customer experience and optimise operations. The delivery of the first A350 is totally in line with this ambition and is the starting point of our fleet renewal programme‘.
Notably did the delivery happen when back in Toulouse Airbus’ latest bird, the A330NEO took to the skies for this type’s maiden flight. Air Mauritius will be the first airline in Africa to take delivery of this latest addition to the A330 family next year as their fleet renewal programme, as reported here previously, is now progressively advancing.
