Fastjet re-captures another World Travel Awards trophy
fastjet customers vote airline into win at the World Travel Awards for the third successive year but does the Tanzanian government listen?
African low fare but high value airline Fastjet last weekend added to its growing awards tally when it was recognized as the Leading African Low-Cost airline for the third successive year.
Last year the airline was also awarded the Skytrax World Airline Award as Best African Low-Cost Airline with Air Transport World naming fastjet Africa’s Best Value Airline in February this year. The World Travel Awards are awarded based on votes by airline customers and generally considered as the Oscar’s of the travel industry.
“It is very encouraging to be recognized by the people that matter the most to us, our customers,” says fastjet chief executive officer Nico Bezuidenhout. “It has been an exceptional journey until now, not without its ups and downs, but with an unwavering resolve by every member of the fastjet family to deliver the very best connectivity, on-time performance and value driven air travel to our customers.”
To date Fastjet’s network punctuality this year ranks amongst the top African carriers with a 90% on-time aggregate. The fastjet brand covers 5 countries: Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and South Africa.
This year saw the airline launch daily flights between Harare and Bulawayo and Maputo and Quelimane as well as change its product offering following feedback from passengers. All fastjet tickets now include the first checked-bag as well as, on routes longer than 60 minutes, a light on-board snack.
“Listening to our customers and creating innovative solutions form part of our greater Customer Experience project, an ongoing process where we shape our business around its most important aspect, our customers‘ commented Fastjet CEO Nico Bezuidenhout further before adding that the Fastjet family appreciates its win at the World Travel Awards.
“It inspires us to do our best, and I appreciate every colleague at Fastjet who works tirelessly to ensure that our brand continues to lead in Africa‘ concluded Nico in his statement.
