AWARD WINNING LOW FARE AIRLINE FASTJET NOW CONCENTRATES ON ZIMBABWE, MOZAMBIQUE AND SOUTH AFRICA

Tanzania, a country where Fastjet – after serving the purpose for several years until it clearly no longer did – does not feature on the company’s website www.fastjet.com any longer.
This may finally put to rest any last hope that the independent Tanzanian Fastjet company may still see a revival, after the buyout of the Fastjet PLC stake by local investors.
Enough has been said here about the reasons why Fastjet Tanzania was doomed following the revival of Air Tanzania, after initial needle prick hostility turned into outright hammer and anvil action.
The anti Fastjet move by Tanzanian authorities first manifested itself when the airline was not granted landing rights for Kigoma, a matter which was also raised by members of parliament after the following article was published:
The registration of newly acquired ATR aircraft, already operated in Tanzania by another major airline, was also constantly delayed and decisions deferred, causing the airline a substantial loss, eventually prompting Fastjet PLC to throw in the towel, disgusted by the way the company has been treated, or rather mistreated.
The recent removal of Tanzania from the website now seems to close this sordid saga and brings to an end what once upon a time was one of the most promising African aviation stories.
