Hilton Hotels has signed a Management Agreement with TWED Property Development Company (TWED) to bring its flagship Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand to Uganda. The plans for the construction of a 244-guest room property in a mixed use scheme entitled “TWED Heights” of a high end Hotel and Office complex of about 1200 sq meters built to international standards in the upscale Nakasero suburb in central Kampala were unveiled during a signing ceremony by senior representatives from both companies.
Construction of the mixed-use complex on Plot 18 Kyandondo Road and Plot 16 Lourdel Road is already well underway.
The 23 storey development comprises several high-end meeting and conferencing facilities including a ballroom for up to 500 guests, a 518-car park, spa and fitness centre and outdoor pool.
There will be multiple F&B outlets across the new hotel, offering a wide range of dining outlets to include a destination sports bar and a sky bar with city, golf course and lake views.
Guests will be able to choose between upscale guest rooms and a range of suites, including a Presidential Suite.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, SVP, Development, EMEA, Hilton said: “Uganda is a country very close to my heart, so I am very proud to have been able to be personally present at the unveiling of this fantastic hotel. This is a landmark year for Hilton in Uganda as we prepare to welcome guests for the very first time at our upcoming Hilton Garden Inn Kampala, so no better time for us to be signaling our commitment to the market than by partnering with TWED to bring our flagship Hilton Hotels & Resorts brand to the country.”

Dr. Dan Twebaze, Managing Director, TWED Property Development Company added, “TWED Heights is our flagship project as we diversify our portfolio into the hospitality sector in support of tourism which is a national strategic pillar of development. We couldn’t be happier to be entering the field alongside Hilton, an operator with a strong commitment to the market and 100 years of industry expertise”.

Hilton, which has more than 5,600 hotels with about 913,000 rooms in 113 countries, operates 43 hotels on the African continent and is embarking on an exciting period of growth.
Hilton’s portfolio is set to more than double in the coming years with 55 properties under development including the upcoming 96 guest room Hilton Garden Inn Kampala, which opened its doors earlier this week as reported here by ATCNews.
