Looking beyond Gondar into the Simien Mountains of Ethiopia

(Posted 05th September 2019)

A recent article about Gondar, one of several UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Ethiopia, has generated huge interest, as did a previous article about Lalibela.
Many questions were posed to ATCNews to find out more about what else one can do from Gondar, and Ethiopian Holidays provided a prompt answer.

After spending a day in Gondar, as was explained here, visitors can spend a second day driving to the Simien Mountains to get a glimpse at some extraordinary natural phenomena, among them troops of the endemic Gelada baboons. The full day trip – which individual travelers can extend upon prior arrangements – provides an added value addition to a visit to Gondar and let tourists get a taste of what northern Ethiopia has to offer, should one wish to book a full scale vacation in the country or a multy day hiking tour into the Simien Mountains.

Cost for the two night / three day trip out of Addis Ababa, including ticket, ground transportation, accommodation, meals and English speaking guide services, starts at 708 US Dollars – a single supplement of 52 US Dollars applies – while groups of 15 travelers and above only pay 384 US Dollars per person, net and non commissionable as mentioned previously.

  1. It is true! You can enjoy the Simien mountains range via Gondar based on the time you have since we have a day trip to 10 days hike in side the national park.
