(Posted 12th November 2019)
Kenya’s leading MICE hotel groups PrideInn Hotels and Conferencing, has appointed Gurpreet Singh Mehta as their new Group Director of Food & Beverage and he started his new appointment yesterday, meeting with the ATCNews publisher for a chat.
Gurpreet made his name in Kenya’s culinary circles as Executive Chef of the Sarova Whitesands Resort in Mombasa, where at every visit by this correspondent in the past new culinary delights were to be discovered.
PrideInn has hence landed a major coup in recruiting him and the hotel group with now 8 hotels in their portfolio, 3 in Nairobi, 1 in Diani, 1 in Mombasa itself and 3 more along the north coast, will no doubt benefit from further uplifting the F&B standards for their guests.
PrideInn Hotels only recently had their PrideInn Paradise certified by Kenyan authorities as a 5 star property and like its sister resort in Shanzu, the Flamingo by PrideInn, has built up a strong following for major MICE events held at the Kenya coast.
Meanwhile, with the launch of nonstop flights from Entebbe in Uganda to Mombasa, as the hotel group also shown keen interest to offer weekend packages for the Ugandan market, linking stays to the airline’s Friday and Sunday flights.
Given the past success of selling beach vacations in Uganda, now reinforced again with nonstop flights cutting out the hasslesome transit in Nairobi, will new packages, once going on the market, no doubt sell like hot cakes.
Uganda is now, according to the lastest information received from tourism officials in Nairobi, the second largest source of visitors to Kenya with almost 162.000 visitors last year crossing the joint border. Uganda edged out Tanzania which visitor numbers to Kenya fell by almost 12.5 percent last year.
Ann Peggy, General Manager of the PrideInn Paradise, has in fact indicated that space will be set aside in their resorts for Ugandan wishing to spend the festive season at the Kenya coast but early bookings will be essential.
Until packages are available can flights be booked directly via www.ugandaairlines.com while hotel bookings – and transfers from the airport to the hotel and back – can be made via www.prideinn.co.ke
