Walk For Life Africa appoints Sinikiwe Sithole as Executive Director

Ms. Sinikiwe Sithole is a Psychologist and an expert on Migration Governance and Free Movement of Persons in Africa for trade, labour, research and education for the purpose of integration and development in Africa.

 

She has extensive experience in working on migration border infrastructure management, migration & protection, including exposure in elimination human trafficking and smuggling of persons in Africa. She has worked with UN partners, Governments in Africa and Middle East, and diplomatic communities in coordinating migration governance and pandemic management.

 

Working for IOM and seconded to the African Union Commission availed her opportunity to participate in various (inter)national interagency and inter-governmental platforms to contribute the strategic engagements of International Civil Society Organizations, Member States and Research Institutions.

 

She has experience in supporting the evolving development of policies such as Global Compact for Migration (GCM), review of the SDGs and IMRF processes within IOM and other key international policies such Agenda 2063 and those that relate to Migration, including related strategy development processes.

 

Amongst others, she played a key role in setting up an IOM Migration Reception center in one of the busiest borders in Africa (Beitbridge), imperative for promoting regular migration in Southern Africa.

 

As the Executive Director, we look forward to creating impactful initiatives, boost strategic partnerships, and prioritize to see a connected and borderless African ecosystem that facilitates a seamless movement of people for travel, tourism, trade and investment.
