KENYA’S DOMESTIC AIRLINES EXTEND THEIR STOP OF OPERATIONS
(Posted 20th May 2020)
Kenya’s Safarilink, operating out of Wilson Airport to a wide range of domestic beach, bush and other locations, a few days ago announced that they will – in compliance with the Kenyan government’s directive to expand the country’s qualified lockdown – shift their operations start to the second half of June with bookings now accepted again as of 22nd of June. This will apply to all flights within Kenya but at this stage not yet for the airline’s regional destinations like Zanzibar.
Jambojet has now also acknowledged that the extended travel restrictions in and out of Nairobi County, Kwale County, Mombasa County and Kilifi County will make it impossible to restart operations before these lockdowns are effectively lifted. Regional flights can however only resume when the respective countries, like Uganda, have lifted their own bans on passenger flights entering Uganda and bringing travelers to Entebbe – without having to comply with a 14 days quarantine presently required.
Wrote Jambojet a short while ago to ATCNews:
