Air Seychelles will operate a series of new charter flights from Romania’s capital city and most important commercial center, Bucharest, commencing Friday, 30th of April 2021. The 9 hour flight, to be operated by the airline’s A320neo aircraft with 168 seats, will make an intermediate stop at Cairo International Airport for refueling before continuing onto Seychelles. Scheduled until Monday, 17th of May 2021, the flight is expected to bring over 500 visitors into the Seychelles. To support tourism and economic growth on the island and to further build the link between Bucharest and the Seychelles, the national carrier will also operate additional charter services in August and December on this route.
Remco Althuis, Chief Executive Officer of Air Seychelles, said: “Since the reopening of Seychelles to the world, visitors have been looking at destinations providing ease of access upon entry for their travel. Seychelles is now becoming an increasingly attractive destination and as the flag carrier, it is important that we seize business opportunities once available to recover and sustain our operations. We are pleased to establish the bridge with Romania through the charter opportunities to support tourism, trade and economic development in the Seychelles.”
This is the first time that Romania and the Seychelles are linked with direct flights, all other connections having to go through the hub airports of other airlines.
