Tourism unites behind the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action at COP26
The ‘Glasgow Declaration for Climate Action in Tourism’ was launched today at the UN Climate Change Conference COP26. Some of tourism’s biggest businesses have joined governments and destinations in committing to cut emissions in half by 2030 and achieve Net Zero by 2050 at the latest. Read More here
Emirates renews its commitment to Seychelles at Expo 2020
Emirates has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tourism Seychelles at Expo 2020. The agreement reaffirms the airline’s commitment to the island-nation and outlines joint initiatives to promote trade and tourism to the country. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Ahmed Khoory, Emirates’ SVP Commercial West Asia & Indian Ocean, and Sherin Francis, Principal Secretary Tourism Department, Tourism Seychelles. here

Climate Emergency is a bigger threat than Covid- UNWTO Secretary General
The head of the United Nations World Tourism Organization has warned that the “climate emergency is a bigger threat than Covid”. Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of UNWTO, said the pandemic has hit tourism harder than any other sector. Tourism needs support from governments, through stronger public-private partnerships and through more and better-targeted financing investments, to rebuild in a sustainable and inclusive way. British Airways revives Cape Town- London Flights
British Airways (BA) has resumed flights from Cape Town to London Heathrow, United Kingdom.Operations between the South African and English cities, respectively, commenced on Wednesday with three flights per week.Plans are underway to increase to a daily flight operation from November 13. British Airways will again operate its expanded Cape Town double daily schedule from December 10. Read More

WTM Responsible Tourism Award Winners Announced
The awards, first launched in 2004, recognise and reward businesses and destinations which are contributing to more sustainable and responsible tourism industry.Winners were chosen by a group of industry experts, which met online to allow for an internationally diverse panel.
