Dr. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka is new Head of World Committee on Tourism Ethics
Dr. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, the former Executive Director of UN Women, has been confirmed as the new Chairperson of the World Committee on Tourism Ethics. The 24th Session of the UNWTO General Assembly, which met in Madrid (30 November-3 December) unanimously approved Dr. Mlambo-Ngcuka’s nomination for the position. She will serve as Chair for four years, starting on 3 December 2021, taking over from Pascal Lamy Read more here
Seychelles welcomes Moutya’s designation as UNESCO cultural heritage
The people of Seychelles have extended their warmest appreciation to the world after Moutya, a dance which started as means of expressing oppression and hardship, was added to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) list of intangible cultural heritage for humanity, during the sixteenth session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, held virtually from 13-18 December, 2021. Latest 2021 Africa Visa Openness Index out!
Opening up Africa’s borders to travel will drive investment and an economic rebound, according to the authors of the 2021 Africa Visa Openness Index.Published yearly since 2016, the Index measures African countries’ openness to travellers from elsewhere on the continent. The 2021 Mozambique Fashion Week (MFW) has been held successfully with stylist, Ilda Semedo being crowned the coveted winner of the maiden National Institute of Tourism (INATUR) Challenge.The event which ran from 7th to 11th December drew participation from the country’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism, through the National Institute of Tourism and the National Institute of Cultural and Creative Industries (INICC) for the first time. Dubai2020:Free State’s tourism is chock-full of investment opportunities
The Free State province got its turn in the spotlight last night, as the South African pavilion continues its provincial showcase series at the Expo 2020 in Dubai.The showcase provides each of South Africa’s nine provinces a stage to promote its tourism hotspots to a global audience and potential investors.
