Sierra Leone unveils new Brand Logo for its Tourism at FITURThe Minister of Tourism and Culture of Sierra Leone Memunatu Pratt has unveiled the new brand identity of Sierra Leone Tourism at the just ended FITUR International Tourism Fair.The logo which is themed ‘’Explore Freedom’’ is part of the country’s tourism covid recovery strategy to market the country. Read more  here




Tourism Grows 4% in 2021 but Remains Far Below Pre-Pandemic Levels


 


Global tourism experienced a 4% upturn in 2021, compared to 2020 (415 million versus 400 million). However, international tourist arrivals (overnight visitors) were still 72% below the pre-pandemic year of 2019, according to preliminary estimates by UNWTO. This follows on from 2020, the worst year on record for tourism, when international arrivals decreased by 73%. Read here

Air Seychelles re-establish network connectivity and announces schedule
Air Seychelles has today announced its 2022 February flight schedule, now that the airline has resumed commercial passenger services back to all its pre-pandemic destinations, including Johannesburg, Mauritius, Tel Aviv and Mumbai.As part of its plan to rebuild its route network, reaffirming its commitment to its markets, Air Seychelles has in-line with the gradual return in demand, adjusted its flight schedule for the month of February 2022. Read more   Here 





Maiden UNWTO Tourism Investment Guide put spotlight on Dominican Republic
UNWTO has launched the first in a series of tourism investment guidelines focused on a specific country. Developed alongside the Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic and the National Export and Investment Center (PRODOMINICANA), the new guide provides key insights for investors, with the aim of boosting foreign direct investment in the Caribbean destination.  Prof. Marina Novelli appointed to UNWTO’s Committee on Tourism EthicsProfessor Novelli, Professor of Tourism and International Development in the University of Brighton’s School of Business and Law has been appointed as a member of The World Committee on Tourism Ethics (WCTE) an independent and impartial body operating under the UNWTO aegis, established in 2003 to promote and disseminate the UNWTO Global Code of Ethics for Tourism, as well as the evaluation and monitoring of the implementation of its principles. Read more here
