12 dead in Kenya after Cessna C208B Grand Caravan safari flight crashes

A Cessna Grand Caravan, owned and operated by Mombasa Air Safari, which was registered in Kenya as  5Y-CCA,  MSN: 208B1248, first flown in 2007, at 08.30 hrs local time today crashed near Kwale not long after take off from the Ukunda airfield.

The flight was reportedly destined for the Masai Mara’s Kichwa Tembo airstrip and all tourists on board together with the crew died in the crash.

According to information received from Diani was it raining heavily at the time of the accident with limited view.

 

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority subsequently released the following statement as an air accident investigation is now going underway to establish the cause of the crash.
