Dear MOUNTAIN BIKE FRIENDS!

We are delighted to invite you back to our beloved mountain to take part in this unique mountain bike safari competition.

Taking place once again on the slopes of Mount Kenya and the beautiful Borana Conservancy, this is an amazing opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and fresh air, whilst supporting and raising valuable funds to protect the ‘water towers’ of Kenya.

Of course, precautions must be made and your security and health is our top priority.

This year, the 10to4 Mountain Bike Challenge will be uniquely focused on the outdoor biking race to keep all our participants safe and help with social distancing measures for the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. More details to follow.

On the 12th & 13th February 2021 will be the main races that have become a core part of the 10to4 event the EXTREME, CLASSIC, RUSH & SLIDE.

The Mini 10to4, supported by Braeburn Schools, will be held on Sunday 14th February and is the perfect opportunity for budding cyclists (under the age of 13 years old) to get involved too.

For those who’d rather be on 4 legs than 2 wheels, the successful 10to4 Horse Ride, supported by Everything Altitude and Riding Wild, will also be taking place on Friday 12th February, where participants can ride alongside wildlife on the beautiful plains of Borana Conservancy.

What’s new for 2021?

The 2021 10to4 will be a unique event but we hope that you will join us on your bikes to enjoy the mountain and support the work of Mount Kenya Trust.

In order to offer races and ensure that participants get an amazing ride out on their bikes at the lowest risk to all entrants, we plan to keep the ‘social’ aspect of the 2021 event to a minimum to reduce the risk of the mixing of different groups from around the country.

As such the difficult decision has been made not to provide camping facilities or host participants at the Borana Race Village.

All competitors must make their own accommodation and transport plans for the nights before and after the race. To support you with this we will be listing accommodation options on our website over the coming weeks. We will also be adapting the race schedule and logistics to adjust for this and will communicate these changes in early January 2021.

We are also offering a VIRTUAL EVENT this year for all our international friends who cannot join us for the weekend. More information to come.

Stay fit and well!

Why take part in the 2021 10to4?

1. Support the Mount Kenya Trust: the 10to4 is the key fundraising event for Mount Kenya Trust who continue to work incredibly hard to protect and conserve the forest, water, people and wildlife around Africa’s second-highest mountain.

2. It’s good for your health: riding a bicycle regularly is one of the best ways to reduce your risk of health problems associated with a sedentary lifestyle. Keep fit by riding regularly and join us for this fun event.

3. It’s an outdoor, socially distanced event: the event organisers prioritise the safety of the competitors and are working hard to ensure the event is run in a safe and responsible manner (within the Governments guidelines).

4. It’s good for your soul: not only are you raising money for a valuable cause but the fresh air and beautiful scenery is good for your mind and your soul. This has been a tough year and getting out and about into nature is the perfect antidote.
