RWANDAIR’S BRAND NEW BOMBARDIER Q400 IS TAKING SHAPE

RwandAir’s latest acquisition, due for delivery within a month from now, is steadily gaining ‘shape’ as the outfitting of the cabin and the installation of the cockpit, engines and systems is slowly nearing completion.
This is the first owned Bombardier Q400 of RwandAir even though the airline has been flying a wet leased Bombardier Dash 8 for some several years now. The new aircraft, also a turboprop, will offer more seats overall even though it is configured in a two class configuration, allowing passengers flying with this aircraft type from Kamembe or other regional destinations to Kigali to connect there to their regional, pan-African flights or international flights to Dubai, the comfort of a business class section on all sectors.

The new aircraft, manufacturer’s number 4464 will be registered with the Rwanda Civil Aviation Authority’s as 9XR-WL and will according to updated information received from RwandAir arrive in Kigali on the 03rd of March to join a fleet of two Bombardier CRJ900NextGen, two B737-800NG’s and two B737-700NG’s.
RwandAir has also confirmed that their launch of flights to Douala is on course for the 30th of March, making next month one to remember for the WB team at the international airport in Kigali and across their network, which now spans from Eastern Africa to Southern Africa, West Africa and Dubai. WB serves Kamembe, its only domestic destination at present, Entebbe, Juba, Bujumbura, Kilimanjaro, Dar es Salaam, Nairobi and Mombasa in the region, Johannesburg daily and flies several times a week to Brazzaville, Libreville, Lagos and Accra, besides daily flights to Dubai.
