“Be Smart, Go green”, Jean Christ Speville, President of the Rodrigues Kitesurfing Association (RKA) and initiator of the Festival, earlier today launched the 9th Rodrigues International Kitesurf Festival..
The Tourism Commissioner, Jean Alain Wong So and the chief commissioner of the Regional Assembly, Franceau Grandcourt stressed the importance of the event, its rise in ranking over the years of now 9 editions in international kite surf circles.
Kitesurfing contributes to discovering Rodrigues beyond borders, which is a “Green” island and to keep this nature so exceptional and appreciated by more and more tourists to come to taste the serenity and beauty of Rodrigues.
“Kitesurfing is a non-motorized sport. Therefore, it has all its place in the island’s nautical and sports activity‘ recalled the two commissioners in their speeches. A special message relayed by the partners in particular by local representatives of the Wildlife Foundation (Rodrigues) which are very active in Rodrigues. Preserve the island, was to ensure that all its natural riches, its diversity, the order remain protected.
Participants came all the way from Seychelles, from the Association Kitesurfing of the Seychechelles from the islands of Praslin and La Digue, but also participating are Mauritian, Malgasy, Belgian, Austrian, French, settled in Mauritius, Germans passionate about gliding and of course Réunionnais, always at the festival date and kitesurfers of all levels are registered to engage this Thursday morning in the competitions.
In the program today are two mini raid events, series A and B (Men, Women)
