The Africa Tourism Leadership Awards 2023

The ATLA 2023 took place on October 6th, in Gaborone, Botswana, against the backdrop of the Africa Tourism Leadership Forum 2023. This is Africa’s only pan-African industry award of its kind.  It recognises and honours change-makers and innovators in the African travel, tourism, hospitality, and aviation industries. Nominees who can demonstrate their dedication to leadership by means of sustainability in tourism practices and policy-making receive special consideration and recognition.

Here are the winners from the first three categories namely the Leading in Progressive Policies’ Award, Outstanding Entrepreneurship Award and the Women In Leadership Award. Only the winner, first and second runners-up are profiled below.

Leading in Progressive Policies’ Award

A country, head of state, minister or government organization/team who has shown progressive and excellence in policy-making for sustainable tourism growth and development in their destination.

Outstanding Entrepreneurship Award

An entrepreneur (or a small group of entrepreneurs) who has shown excellence in entrepreneurship in Africa’s travel, tourism, hospitality and/or aviation industry.

Women In Leadership Award

The most inspiring and influential leading woman who has and continue to make and outstanding contribution to changing the course of tourism development in Africa.
