NEW ADDIS ABABA CONVENTION BUREAU PRECURSOR FOR NATIONAL INSTITUTION TO PROMOTE MICE TOURISM

Takele Uma Benti, the Mayor of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital city, has just announced the formation of a convention bureau under the auspices of the city administration, to in the future more aggressively promote MICE business to come to the city.
The decision was reportedly backed by the federal government, which itself is looking actively at the formation of a national convention bureau to bring MICE business not just to Addis Ababa but also to other cities across the country.The Addis Ababa Mayor has already appointed Kumneger Teketel Woldegebriel as the first Director of the new convention bureau, a budget for which was also passed on the same day when the announcement was made.
