Zambia arrests Congolese Ivory trafficker with haul of tusks

The Zambian Ministry of Tourism, through the country’s Department of National Parks and Wildlife, has arrested a suspect believed to be a notorious ivory trafficking kingpin The operation, which was carried out in the outskirts of Lusaka City, around the 6 Miles area, along the Great North Road, ended with five other conduits falling into the nets. Members of the public are said to have reported some suspicious activities of a Congolese national believed to be involved in wildlife trafficking.

Troublesome tusker has been translocated

After posing a danger to nearby communities, as well as to itself, a tusker from Tembe Elephant Park, which kept breaking out of the reserve, has been safely relocated. Having breached even the electric fence in search of crops on community land outside the elephant park, the situation became dire and warranted translocation.

Elgeyo-Marakwet: Farmers count losses after elephants invade their farms, destroy crops- Video

Incidences of human-wildlife conflict in Keiyo North in Elgo Marakwet County are escalating after a herd of elephants from Rimui National Reserve invaded farms and destroyed crops. Farmers in Sungetto village are counting huge losses after the elephants invaded their mango and pawpaw farms, destroying the crops that were waiting to be harvested and taken to the market.
