Atout France meets Vanilla Islands of the Indian Ocean (Mauritius, Seychelles, Reunion, Madagascar, Maldives, Comoros & Mayotte) on hotel grading scheme
Atout France, the body that overseas the Hotel Classification / Grading System in France has met with Robert Desvaux, the Director of the Mauritius Tourism Authority to discuss what is being discussed today in the islands of the Indian Ocean Region. Robert Desvaux had tabled what Mauritius was proposing as their way forward for their classification of hotels when the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands Ministers had met in Mauritius earlier this year for the handing over of the Presidency of the Organisation to the Deputy Prime Minister of Mauritius by Madagascar. Xavier-Luc Duval of Mauritius is currently the head of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands and has put hotel classification and the development of cruise ship business to the region high on the agenda of his Presidency. At the meeting with Atout France held during the Top Resa Tourism Trade Fair in Paris it was confirmed that the proposal submitted by Robert Desvaux to the Indian Ocean Vanilla Island Ministers has been analysed by Atout France and that negotiations are underway for Atout France to put their label to this Indian Ocean Hotel Classification scheme. Robert Desvaux, the Director of the Mauritius Tourism Authority said during a briefing to his Vanilla Islands Colleagues that he was thrilled by the response by Atout France which means that soon the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands will have a recognised hotel classification scheme validated by Europe’s Atout France.
