The first of three ordered Airbus A220-300 aircraft has left the paintshop at the Airbus facility in Mirabel / Canada and will over the course of the next few weeks complete the assembly before conducting ground tests, followed by the test flights. In the picture above is Mr. Didier Robert, President of the French Autonomous Region of Reunion, where Air Austral is the home airline.
Once all three of the largest A220 aircraft types are delivered will the current two Boeing B737-800NG’s leave the fleet, as will the ATR 72 aircraft presently in use.
The first delivery is scheduled for the second half of February and once put into service will routes from Reunion to Mauritius and Madagascar be served first.

Notably does the tail fin show a volcanic eruption of the Piton de la Fournaise, which on a regular basis provides a fiery spectacle to visitors and residents of Reunion.
