Over the last few years, we have had great pleasure of connecting safari itineraries between the Maasai Mara and Uganda national parks. We have been able to showcase the immense beauty and wildlife of two diverse landscapes with one seamless connection between AirKenya Express and AeroLink Uganda.
Unfortunately, the traffic on the route has plateaued and the numbers cannot sustain a schedule operation. We have made the difficult decision to discontinue its scheduled operation. To ensure minimal disruption, we have put the following arrangements in place for 2025:
- June, July, and August: We encourage early bookings, but reservations will continue as per the norm.
- September, October, and December 15–31: New bookings will close on February 14, 2025 (end of business day). All reservations made by this date will be honored under existing terms and conditions.
- Final Flights: The last scheduled service on this route will operate on December 31, 2025.
- Minimum Passenger Requirement: The minimum passenger numbers to operate the route remains 4 passengers per sector.

Aviation pundits were swift to lay blame on the failure of both Ugandan and Kenyan tour operators to embrace twin centre holidays and promote the absolute highlights of both countries together in one single package.
Some blame was also laid on the Kenyan government’s decision vis a vis VISA and Electronic Travel Authorizations, as the repeated back and forth was cited as ‘totally unhelpful towards the promotion of regional tourism and twin centre holidays‘.
Originally could tourists obtain a regional VISA covering both Uganda and Kenya but the new regulations in Kenya were making this difficult and more costly and therefore now largely shunned by travellers.
