Air Mauritius in the news again for all the wrong reasons

AIR MAURITIUS ATR FLIGHTS REDUCED AS AIRLINE PLAYS COY OVER REASONS

(Posted 10th November 2017)

The last two days saw a massive reduction in ATR72 operations by Air Mauritius, similar to October 05th and 06th when a pilot shortage was later on admitted to be the primary cause for the flight cancellations.
Yesterday, 09th of November, only one flight was operated compared to four the day before, leaving passengers either stranded or having to be rebooked.

Said the airline in a statement, dismissed by many aviation pundits as outright feeble:

REVISION OF ATR72 SCHEDULE 08/09 NOVEMBER 2017
Air Mauritius regrets to inform its passengers that due to operational constraints, ATR72 operations have been revised regarding four flights initially scheduled for 08th November 2017 and one flight for 09th November 2017. Alternative travel arrangements have been made for all passengers and they have accordingly been informed. Air Mauritius confirms that the situation encountered today is not related to the unavailability of pilots which occurred on the 5th and the 6th of October last. The company wishes to apologise for all inconveniences caused.

No information could be obtained about similar scheduling challenges today and in coming days.
