(Posted 23rd February 2016)

Coinciding with the opening of the Johannesburg office of the Seychelles Tourism Board (reported here two days ago), which signals a new phase in marketing the archipelago’s attractions to the South African market, has Air Seychelles announced a fourth weekly flight between Mahe and Johannesburg.
The added service will commence on Saturday the 19th of March this year and use an Airbus A320 in a two class configuration of Business and Economy.
The current three flights will continue to be operated, by an Airbus A330-200 on Friday and Sunday every week and an Airbus A320 every Wednesday.
The airline also confirmed what has been speculated over for some time, that the remaining flight between Mahe and Dar es Salaam will be withdrawn after the last flight is operated on March 12th with the aircraft then being redeployed on the more lucrative route to South Africa.
Last year did over 13.000 South Africans visit the Seychelles, most of them using the nonstop service of Air Seychelles, making the country the leading producer for tourists from the African continent.
