REOPENING FOR TOURISM FROM 25TH OF MARCH LEADS TO RENEWED AIR CONNECTIONS

The Seychelles will reopen for tourism on the 25th of March, two days from now, when – with the exception of visitors from South Africa – passengers from across the globe will be welcome again.
While they must meet health and safety regulations, as published by the Seychelles health authorities and the Seychelles Tourism Board, are vaccinations NOT a requirement for entry.
Air Seychelles has subsequently announced their return to Tel Aviv – flights to Johannesburg remain suspended for now – and will operate, starting today, four flights up to the 27th of March. This will take advantage of the Passover Holidays in Israel to bring sunseekers to the islands.
After this initial high demand period will the airline operate three flights a week every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, throughout the summer season schedule.
Coinciding with this development has one of the Seychelles’ UNESCO World Heritage Sites also announced its reopening. The Vallee de Mai is now open again for visitors – health and safety regulations are in place and must be met.
The site was closed for the past three months, also putting added pressure on the financial operation of the Seychelles Island Foundation, which manages the Vallee de Mai and the more distant Aldabra Atoll.
In 2019, the last full pre pandemic tourism year, did over 110.000 visitors enter the Vallee de Mai, but this figure dropped by more 70 percent in 2020 when only just over 33.000 paying visitors were recorded.
