Air Seychelles now reaches a dozen European destinations through code share arrangements

AIR SEYCHELLES WIDENS EUROPEAN REACH WITH ADDED CODE SHARE AGREEMENTS

Air Seychelles, the Skytrax’ four star national airline of the archipelago, earlier today announced the signing of additional code share arrangements to expand their reach into Europe.

New destinations covered are Athens and Belgrade, both destinations served by Etihad which is a 40 percent shareholder in Air Seychelles.

The two new cities from where travelers destined to the sundrenched beaches of the archipelago can now fly with one stop in Abu Dhabi, come in addition to existing code share destinations with Etihad like London, Manchester, Frankfurt, Duesseldorf, Munich, Milan, Rome, Geneva, Zurich, Dublin and Paris.

Air Seychelles presently flies 9 times from Mahe to Abu Dhabi, using their two class Airbus A330 while Etihad flies four times a week from Abu Dhabi to Mahe, using an two class Airbus A320, leaving the route just one flight short of double daily frequencies, something which according to a source close to Air Seychelles is however on the cards for later this year.

Manoj Papa, CEO of Air Seychelles, made the announcement a few hours ago at which point he said: ‘This expansion adds two important cities to our network, making Europe more accessible to our customers and strengthening our brand presence in this important region.It also builds on the hard work of the Seychelles government, which has signed new [bilateral] air service agreements with Greece and Serbia, and deepens our successful partnership with Etihad Airways.The expansion will strengthen feed onto our network, and boost trade and tourism in support of our mandate to be an economic enabler to the archipelago’.

Air Seychelles is partner airline of the Seychelles Tourism Board for this year’s Carnaval de Carnivals from 24th to 26th of April, the biggest event in the annual calendar of festivals held across the archipelago. Next up will be the 08th Annual Eco Marathon which is run on Sunday, 22nd of February this year with an expected record number of 500 foreign participants, which will go into the various races alongside several hundred local Seychellois who have already signed up.
