AIR SEYCHELLES SET FOR MUMBAI FLIGHTS AS AEROFLOT RETURNS TO MAHE

The aviation scene in the Seychelles is set to improve substantially, when the archipelago is reopening for tourist arrivals as of 25th of March.
The changed regulations will allow both vaccinated and non vaccinated visitors to enter the Seychelles, all of course subject to health and safety regulations which – as ATCNews has pointed out in the past – may change from time to time, and at times substantially. Intending visitors are therefore advised to check the latest updates and regulatory requirements before embarking on their journey to the Seychelles.
Air Seychelles, the national airline presently under a degree of pressure from the new government, some members of which seem to prefer turning the airline into a purely domestic carrier, has already taken advantage of the upcoming changes and recently announced a two month period of flights to Dubai, effective end of March.
The initial period of flights will run through until the end of May and a decision is expected about the continuation of these weekly flights in due course.
Earlier today has the airline also announced their return to Mumbai in India, a key market prior to the pandemic outbreak, which saw travel between India and the Seychelles literally come to a standstill. These twice weekly flights are commencing on the 08th of April with traffic days out of Mahe on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Travelers on the route must comply with health and safety regulations of both Seychelles and India, as is also the case with the flights to Dubai where UAE regulations must be complied with.
Meanwhile has Aeroflot also announced their return to the Seychelles, following an absence of 18 years – the airline previously served the route between 1993 and 2003.
Aeroflot will use an Airbus A330 on the route for their weekly service and the flight is expected to reopen the important Russian market for the Seychelles’ tourism industry, which has suffered significant setbacks since the pandemic caused flights to be halted and the airport to be closed.
Other airlines are also planning to reopen their route to Mahe, among them Air France, Swiss holiday airlines Edelweiss but also Turkish as well as airlines from the African mainland.
