When an aircraft registration contains the letters ‘MAL’ I always have the mental association with ‘Malheur’, aka misfortune.
Exactly that was the case as a Ugandan registered Cessna 206, 5X-MAL crashed a few hours ago in Eastern Congo. The aircraft was chartered by a company named TRACEP, with added information not available at the time of uploading the article.
Flying from Bunia / Eastern Congo to Mahagi / Zale, did the aircraft reportedly came in long and subsequently crashed upon landing.
All five on board, including the pilot, escaped the crash shaken but with reportedly no major injuries, all of them being treated at a nearby mission hospital.
