FULLY VACCINATED ST. HELENA NOW READY TO WELCOME TOURISTS BACK

Airlink, Southern Africa’s largest private airline, is now considering their return to the Atlantic island of St. Helena, after the local government there has lifted entry restrictions. This follows the near completion of a vaccination programme for residents on the island under which some 95 percent of the 3.708 residents have been vaccinated twice while a further three percent have been vaccinated once against the Corona Virus.
The Governor of the island – St. Helena is a British Overseas Territory – announced the relaxation of entries to the island recently, after the mission to vaccinate 100 percent of the population came within inches of completion.
The island has notably been Covid19 free for the entire time of the pandemic and inbound visitors are well advised to have been vaccinated themselves to avoid bringing the virus to St. Helena.
Airlink has prior to the pandemic served the island from Johannesburg via a technical stop waypoint in Namibia but suspended the service when entry restrictions were announced by the local island government.
The airline has been rolling out their destination network over the past months and had already indicated several weeks ago that a return to St. Helena was also on the books.
