AIR SEYCHELLES JOIN ANSE FORBANS COMMUNITY BEACH CLEAN UP ACTIVITY

Air Seychelles joined the Anse Forbans community to clean-up the Anse Forbans beach, located in the south east coast of Mahe as part of the several projects being implemented by the Anse Forbans Community Conservation Programme (AFCCP).
A total of 7 participants hailing from various departments across the business participated in the activity held on Saturday, 13 April, with the aim of collecting as much plastic waste and unused items discarded on the long stretch of sand, linked to the shallow waters of the Anse Royale and Anse Aux Pins district.
Sheryl Barra, Head of Corporate Affairs of Air Seychelles said: “Part of the Air Seychelles corporate social responsibility programme for this year is very much focused on the importance of environmental conservation and education in the Seychelles, as the beautiful flora and fauna of the island continues to remain a key attraction for all the visitors. To ensure that Seychelles continues to attract as many visitors and remains the gem of the Indian Ocean, we decided to join this great initiative organized by AFCCP to support the national conservation campaign apart from playing our part in supporting the national drive to eliminate plastic waste including marine debris along the seashore.”
Lisa Laporte Booyse, AFCCP Chairperson said: “Our aim for each beach clean-up we organise is to spread the awareness of the impact of marine debris on the marine environment. We love to see the children so actively participating and it becomes a total normal concept for them to go to the beach and merely start picking up rubbish. We each can make a difference – pick up rubbish, join the beach clean ups and make a sustainable effort for our future."
The event organized by the Anse Forbans Community Conservation Programme (AFCCP) was conducted in partnership Double Tree Hilton Allamanda Resort & Spa.
A total of 49kgs of waste was collected at the clean-up which proceeded over two hours.
