SEYCHELLES MINISTRY OF HEALTH HALTS INBOUND TRAFFIC FROM SOUTH AFRICA EFFECTIVE END YEAR
(Posted 28th December 2020)
As South Africa’s #COVID19 case numbers went across the 1 million mark are more and more countries now pulling the plug on travel from and to Africa’s hardest hit country.
Effective 31st of December will no more South Africans be allowed to enter the Seychelles, negative test certificate or not, and as a result has Air Seychelles announced that they will only fly to Johannesburg until the 17th of January, to allow for South Africans presently in the Seychelles to get back home.
Sources from South Africa have also indicated that the country will return to lockdown level 3 across all provinces, which may prompt yet more airlines currently flying to and from South Africa to halt their services for the time being.
Information about a restart of flights by Air Seychelles will be forthcoming as and when the situation changes.
European countries had already started to halt flights to and from South African gateways just over a week ago when the new virus strain was also discovered there as well as due to the fact that case numbers continued to spiral out of control.
