AIR TANZANIA TO OPERATE SPECIAL B787 FLIGHT TO BRING TANZANIANS HOME
(Posted 13th May 2020)
Air Tanzania will tomorrow operate a charter flight, leaving from Dar es Salaam for Mumbai, before returning home with Tanzanian citizens stuck in India without a previous option to fly back.
A Boeing B787 Dreamliner, one of two the airline operates, will fly without passengers to India and then load passengers – and arguably also some cargo for the second leg back to Tanzania.
This is the first such flight Air Tanzania will perform, though airlines in the region like RwandAir and Kenya Airways had already commenced such operations some time ago.
Returnees have been advised that they will have to undergo mandatory quarantine on arrival in designated facilities and are also due to be tested, though Tanzania’s record on testing and reporting cases is under global scrutiny for lack of daily updates.
