Alain St.Ange, the former Tourism Minister of the Seychelles, returned to the islands last week after his working visit to Lagos in Nigeria where he spoke at the unveiling of the wall highlighting the ‘7 Wonders of Nigeria’ at the Lagos Museum as well as attending the 60th birthday party for Africa’s Tourism Icon Ikechi Uko.
When he addressed the party honouring Amb Ikechi Uko, the Seychelles former Minister spoke about the work for Africa that Ikechi Uko has been doing for so many years. “He is from Africa, he believes in Africa and he knows Africa” said St.Ange in the presence of the hundreds gathered for the event.
Alain St.Ange also met the press and was confirmed by Toni Ukachukwu of Walk For Love Africa, as a director for this press body of Africa. He was also interviewed at length for a new tourism glossy publication set to be launched in the coming weeks.
Alain St.Ange left Seychelles again this weekend again for Reunion Island where he will address the island’s business community on tourism in Reunion, and in the Indian Ocean Islands.
This working visit by Alain St.Ange is a private sector initiative and staged because on the importance of Tourism for the region. The event is set to be a fully booked one where the island’s former Tourism Minister will be delivering the address before taking questions from those present.
Alain St.Ange said before leaving Seychelles that the importance of Tourism as a key industry for the region will need to see everyone pulling together for safeguarding the industry that so many depend on. St.Ange today runs his own ‘Saint Ange Tourism Consultancy’ business and is seen addressing Tourism Conferences accross Africa and the ASEAN Block. He is recognised as a tourism expert and remains a sought after consultant.
Reunion, a member of the Vanilla Island Organisation – Alain St. Ange was the only ever two term president of this marketing cooperation with members being Seychelles, Mauritius / Rodrigues, Madagascar, Mayotte, Comoros and Reunion – was recently hard hit by a cyclone alongside Mauritius and both islands’ tourism sectors are working hard to assure visitors of their safety, regardless of any weather situation.
