Out of office but highly visible anywhere he goes. Alain St.Ange, the former Seychelles Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine was at ITB 2018 at the invitation of members of the private sector trade from Europe
St.Ange who was regarded as a popular and highly effective Tourism Minister was seen on several Africa stands at ITB and catching up which in the end proved a challenge as so many trade show attendees wanted to greet him and discuss tourism.
Today Alain St.Ange has his own Tourism Consultancy firm under the label "Saint Ange Consultancy" and he issues his own weekly tourism report entitled the "Saint Ange Tourism Report" that has quickly found its place among popular, respected and widely read tourism publications.
Back home in the Seychelles he now champions workers rights as President of the Seychelles Labour Union and was instrumental in protests against the establishment of an Indian military base on the island of Assumption, which is just a few miles from the UNESCO World Heritage Site Aldabra Atoll.
‘Freelancers‘ at ITB are normally not easily spotted at a tourism trade fairs but St.Ange was busy and doing extensive networking, as he has always done while still in office.
"A flying visit to Germany and catching up with friends was just great. Meeting new players was also interesting. Tourism remains the people’s industry and my couple of days in Germany showed this remains key to success" said Alain St.Ange.
