NEW DEAL SHOULD SEE KENYA AIRWAYS CARRY MORE INDIAN VISITORS

Kenya’s drive to attract more tourist visitors from India to the country have received a boost, when news broke that an amended aviation deal has been signed between Kenya and India to permit the designated airlines from both countries seven more flights a week each.
Only recently has national airline Kenya Airways signed an extensive codeshare deal with Etihad partner airline Jet Airways, to open up routes beyond Mumbai to Delhi, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad, effectively widening KQ’s reach into India while also giving Jet Airways the option of flying their passengers from Mumbai directly to Nairobi instead of, as is presently the case, routing them via Abu Dhabi.
While trade ties are also strong between the two countries has Kenya’s tourism industry targeted India as a fast growing market for leisure visits and the added frequencies, as and when operationalized by Kenya Airways, will no doubt play a major role to substantially raise visitor numbers.
