Anderson exits KAA as Gitari named Acting CEO

LACKLUSTRE PERFORMANCE BY HIGHLY PAID EXPATRIATE AT THE HELM OF THE KENYA AIRPORTS AUTHORITY COMES TO AN END

Mr. Alex Gitari, the substantive Finance Director of the Kenya Airports Authority, has been named as Acting CEO for the organization, now that luck- and hapless Jonny Anderson has departed from KAA.

Anderson’s tenure came to a premature end when he threw in the towel a few weeks ago, resigning and bringing to an end a turbulent term which in many areas lacked success.
Kenya’s flagship airport, Jomo Kenyatta International, still only has one single runway and suffers prolonged flight diversions and delays whenever a runway incident takes place. Anderson was not able during his term to continue plans to build a second runway, which would allow JKIA continued operations even in case of one runway going off operations.
A formal search for a successor is now going underway with many Kenyans demanding that no expatriate be recruited, who in the cases of KAA and of Kenya Airways were paid fortunes without delivering on their targets and promises made when they took office.
Gitari looks back at a distinguished career which includes being Director of Finance at PTA Bank and 7 years at PriceWaterHouse before joining KAA.
