EMIRATES APPOINTS NEW COUNTRY MANAGER FOR KENYA
(Posted 16th March 2014)
Emirates, Dubai’s award winning airline, has confirmed the appointment of Ms. Anita Kongson as their new country manager for Kenya. Having previously served as Emirates’ sales manager in Switzerland does Anita enter the Kenyan scene hot on the heels of the airline starting flights to Boston and the announcement that Oslo will be added later in the year, increasing connectivity and global reach for passengers flying via Dubai.
Emirates presently flies double daily to Nairobi (EK 719/720 and EK 721/722) using an Airbus A340-500 in their regular three class configuration. The airline competes with other Gulf based carriers, and Kenya’s national airline Kenya Airways, for passengers flying into or via the Gulf to in particular India, Thailand and China, as well as other South and Far Eastern destinations. However, it is only Emirates – besides home boys KQ – offering wide body aircraft comfort since Etihad and Qatar Airways use Airbus A320 equipment, as does incidentally LCC Air Arabia which flies daily from and to Sharjah.
Emirates will between May and July have to cope with the planned re-surfacing of Dubai DXB’s two runways, which will bring with it capacity caps and while many airlines found themselves pushed to use the newly opened Dubai World Central airport in Jebel Ali for the duration, Emirates flights will continue to use Dubai International to make sure their passengers connect as scheduled to any of their presently 142 destinations in 78 countries.
