A nearly 50 year old Antonov AN26B suffered a runway excursion earlier today in Kongolo / Congo DR, ending in the aircraft’s right engine catching fire. Thankfully were none of the 5 on board injured.

The aircraft, owned and operated by Air Kasai, registered as 5S-AYN, MSN 4001 and first flown in 1976, was enroute from Goma to Kongolo transporting cargo. Upon touching down it left the runway, had according to reports one of the landing gears collapse and when coming to a standstill the right engine then caught fire which was eventually extinguished.
