ETHIOPIAN ANNOUNCES NEW ROUTES JUST DAYS BEFORE DREAMLINER #13 ARRIVES

Ethiopian Airlines has confirmed that effective 30th of June two more destinations in Southern Africa will be added to their African network. Gabarone / Botswana and Cape Town / South Africa will become the airline’s 50th and 51st continental destinations and will be served in combination, using a Boeing B737-800NG aircraft. The flights will operate as ET 829/8 and ET 848/9 respectively.
Ethiopian’s CEO Tewolde Gebremariam said when making the announcement: ‘As a Pan-African airline working to bring Africa together and closer to the world, we are very pleased to spread our wings to Cape Town and Gaborone. Our new flights to Cape Town and Gaborone will give our customers more and convenient connectivity options when traveling within, to and from the continent. We will continue to expand our reach in our home market in Africa with a view to support to the continent’s socio-economic integration and development’. The airline presently flies to 85 destinations worldwide.
The announcement came just days before Ethiopian will take delivery of their 13th Boeing B787 Dreamliner, making it the largest operator of this aircraft type in Africa. IATA ranked Ethiopian, in terms of passengers carried, revenues and profit as the leading airline in Africa last year.
