ANOTHER DEADLY CRASH OF THE NOTORIOUS ANTONOV 26

Operating Soviet era Antonov aircraft for their throw away purchase or lease price continues to haunt African aviation, as another one of these aged birds crashed while taking off from Juba’s international airport earlier this morning.
The South West Aviation operated aircraft was reportedly in its initial climb phase when the plane came down, broke apart on impact and immediately caught fire. The flight was enroute to the northern South Sudanese town of Wau.

From initial reports coming out of Juba has it been suggested that at least 4 of the crew died on impact while one person survived but with no information about what injuries he sustained.
At this stage there is no registration number available for the aircraft, as it has burned beyond recognition.
The same airline suffered a major crash of a LET410 in September 2018 when out of 23 passengers and crew 20 died on impact at Lake Yirol.
ATCNews is trying to ascertain aircraft registration and actual owners, initial entry into service dates and other relevant information.
