AIR SEYCHELLES’ WINNING STREAK CONTINUES

Loadfactors last year were up to 66 percent in average across the board as Air Seychelles again posted a profit of 2.1 million US Dollars, though this was about a third down from 2014.
Over the past year has Air Seychelles increased frequencies out of Mahe to Johannesburg, Mauritius, Madagascar and Mumbai and pulled out of the route to Dar es Salaam and also started flights to Beijing.
Now operating two Airbus A330’s and two Airbus A320’s on their international network does Air Seychelles for their more than 200 domestic flights per week also fly six Twin Otter aircraft, three of them of more recent acquisition.
Long haul flights from Mahe serve Paris nonstop, Abu Dhabi in codeshare with partner Etihad while a total of 31 additional code share destinations were launched last year with such partners as Air Berlin, Alitalia, Jet Airways and NIKKI but also with Air France on the Paris route and South African Airways to Johannesburg and beyond.
The airline’s chairman Mr. Joel Morgan who is also the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Transport, vowed to continue the growth path and to make the required investments to see the airline grow further. CEO Roy Kinnear did two weeks ago confirm that internal discussions were underway to acquire and additional jet aircraft without however going into details.
During this year’s World Travel Awards ceremony in Zanzibar did Air Seychelles take the honours with all four available awards, including Best Indian Ocean Airline and Best Business Class in the Indian Ocean region.
