Antonov 2R crashes in Kisangani / Congo DR during ferry flight

All 7 onboard an Antonov 2R, registered as 9S-GZP, MSN: 1G221-44, YoM 1986, were killed when the aircraft crashed near Kisangani, Congo DR.

The aircraft, recently sold, was on a ferry flight – a ferry flight permit was reportedly in place – for the new owner / operator enroute from  Lubutu Airport to Kisangani-Bangoka International Airport (FKI/FZIC), when it crashed under unclear circumstances about 34 km from its destination airport.

The previous owner / operator was Air Kasai and no information about the new owners was available at the time of posting this report.

An air accident investigation has been launched by BPBA.
