DOES FLY AFRICA STILL SELL TICKETS IN ZIMBABWE?

(Posted 28th November 2015)

Following feedback from Harare after the last article was posted are questions now being asked if Fly Africa, presently grounded for lack of an AOC over a series of safety concerns – this information coming from a court ruling by the High Court’s Justice Tsanga in Harare – does still sell tickets.

Two sources have in fact suggested that the airline may have started selling again from the 01st of December onwards and the company is asked to publicly comment if this is indeed true? If answered in the affirmative the next question would be on what assumption such action is based, given that at present the AOC stands suspended and no flights are possible until the Zimbabwean CAA has formally restored the airline to flight status.

The last utterance by Fly Africa, made with some vigour, told the public that the airline expected to be up and flying again by 24th of November but notably were no further statements made or at least seen by this correspondent after that date has once again passed without securing an AOC. In fact it appears that the contentious statement was altogether removed from the airline’s Facebook page, entirely in line with previous action by those responsible who have even removed questions asked by this correspondent, but of course not before being seen by many page visitors and after securing a screenshot of the posts.

Sister organization Fly Africa in Namibia has also continued to face similar issues with the Namibian civil aviation regulators which, after apparently consulting with their Zimbabwean counterparts, also suspended operations.

Zimbabwe’s Herald and other aviation websites filed related stories about these developments and everyone is now waiting if at all the airline will respond and answer these burning questions.
