ASTA WORLD CONGRESS CONFIRMED FOR NAIROBI DESPITE US ANTI TRAVEL ADVISORY

ASTA Kenya chapter president Samson Some has affirmed that the planned meeting of the American Society of Travel Agents in February is going ahead as planned and that Kenya will use the opportunity to showcase the country and its many attractions. The confirmation comes hot on the heels of the US State Department reiterating its anti travel advisory against parts of the Kenya coast and even parts of Nairobi, something which caused consternation among the Kenyan tourism trade given its timing ahead of this key congress.
The global meeting is taking place at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre between February 23rd to 28th and is expected to bring hundreds of travel agents to Kenya.
During the just ended year 2016 did American tourists outpace all other nationalities to claim top spot in tourism arrivals, and with most of them coming to the country for the traditional safari holiday has their spending contributed to boost the Kenyan economy.
The Kenya Tourism Board is a key partner in the meeting and preparations are in high gear to present a positive image to the travel fraternity from the United States and other countries, promoting the country as a preferred destination in Africa for big game viewing, beach vacations but also for culture and history, art and food.
