On April 21st 2024, Jon Howell, CEO and Founder, AviaDev Africa will be taking to the streets of London to run the London Marathon. That’s 26.2 miles or 42.195 kilometres to be exact … but that’s not all, he will be running the whole race wearing a gorilla suit!

He will be raising awareness and funds for the Gorilla Organization, which was founded in the early 1990s to support anti-poaching patrols initiated by the renowned primatologist, Dr. Dian Fossey.

The organization has since evolved and adopted an innovative community-led approach to gorilla conservation, with an active involvement in field projects in Rwanda, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, with our fundraising and administration headquarters based in London.

Jon is deeply passionate about gorilla conservation, having had the privilege of visiting the Mountain Gorillas of East Africa on two life-changing occasions.

He was appointed a Global Ambassador for the charity in 2016 and over the years, has completed various fundraising challenges, such as running the Valencia half marathon in a gorilla suit, participating in the Great Gorilla Run in London, and even becoming the first person to climb the three highest peaks in the UK in a single weekend, wearing a gorilla suit!

If you or your company would like to support this cause you can:
