| The Association of African Aviation Training Organisations (AATO) and the AviAssist Foundation have signed a co-operative agreement in Montreal. It will see the two organizations work more closely together to promote aviation safety training in Africa. Under the terms of the agreement parties will collaborate on the standardization and harmonization of aviation training in Africa for improved safety and efficiency of air transport through higher standards of training.
Margareth Kywarwenda, secretary general of AATO: “The AATO works to harmonize aviation training and create continent-wide standards across Africa. Safety is an important part of the training picture in Africa. This partnership will enable technical co-operation between our two organizations on training for aviation personnel and research and development related to aviation training. AATO is committed to promoting aviation safety training in Africa and this partnership helps us to achieve this goal.”
“AviAssist has been supporting efforts to make the African region more self-sufficient at aviation safety promotion since 1995”, says Ron Louwerse, Chairman of the board of AviAssist. “With this new relationship, we are better positioned to improve access to world class safety training in Africa and encourage African professionals to be trained in best aviation safety practices”.
